Writing into the Past, Writing into the Future. 

Writing Workshop with Fiona Shaw.

Novelist, and a senior lecturer in Creative Writing at Northumbria University Fiona’s published novels, The Sweetest Thing, The Picture She Took, Tell it to the Bees and A Stone’s Throw all involved extensive research into the past. However, her fifth novel, which is near to completion, has involved her researching the future. Fiona lives in York, a city that is busy writing its past into its future.

beautiful, remote and big! What’s it like to visit this place and how can we record our experience?  This workshop will look at various ways poets have written about place, from the Romantics to more contemporary approaches. We will spend time walking in the border landscape,

Lemn will read from his work including his Mansio poem and share his thoughts on his residency at Carlisle Castle.

Lemn is the author of several books of poetry alongside articles, records, public articles, records, public art and plays.  He was the official poet for the London Olympics and is associate artist at Southbank Centre.
